Golden Rosette for Clydesdale Champion.
This horse is entitled to enter and participate in the Champion of Champions class at the Winter Fair held in November each year. Rosette presented at Turriff Show , then The Clydesdale Society will contact the winner with details. Golden Rosette to be worn for the Class at the Winter Fair.
The Clydesdale Horse Society Shield & Rosette supplied & engraved and presented by The Clydesdale Horse Society will be awarded to the Best Yearling or Two-year-old Colt or Filly, registered or eligible for registration with the Society, not having won a shield before in its lifetime. The exhibitor must be a current member of the Clydesdale Horse Society. The winning horse must complete and return form to The Clydesdale Society in order to receive it.
RULES
1.Please note for the avoidance of any doubt, that geldings cannot win this shield, nor can grade ups and colts out of grade up mares.
2. Please note (and new for 2026) that any horse with a clipped tail, subject to transitional arrangements if the tail was clipped in 2025, cannot win the Clydesdale Horse Society Shield.
YOUNG HANDLERS CLASS
An engraved medal is presented by the Clydesdale Horse Society to the best young handler aged 12 to 16 on the day of the Show who has not already qualified. That person will also receive a Young Handler qualifier rosette on the day of the Show. The capabilities of the handler are to be assessed, not the animal being led.
Qualifiers from any Show held prior to 30th April in any year will qualify for the Young Handler final at the Royal Highland Show in the year of the Show. Qualifiers after 30th April in any year will qualify for the Young Handler final at the following year’s Royal Highland Show.
A merit rosette will be given to all entrants in the class.
The Young Handler scheme and The Young Handler final are generously sponsored by the James Bennett Fund.
SCONE PALACE RIDDEN CLYDESDALE SERIES
Ridden Class for Pure Bred Registered Clydesdales or those eligible for registration. To be judged as a Ridden Hunter Class.
The first two Clydesdales will qualify. Qualification may go down to fourth place, if horses placed 1st and 2nd have previously qualified. Registered Clydesdales and those eligible for registration may qualify and enter for the championship.
This class is a Qualifier for the Ridden Clydesdale Championships to be held at Scone Palace International Horse Trials on Thursday 27th August 2026.
QUALIFYING EXHIBITORS MUST NOTIFY SCONE PALACE INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS WITHIN 24 HOURS OF COMPETING.
CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY SHIELD
Rosette & Shield presented by The Clydesdale Horse Society will be awarded to the Best Yearling or Two-year-old Colt or Filly registered or eligible for registration with the Society, not having won a shield before in its lifetime. The exhibitor must be a current member of the Clydesdale Horse Society and will be given an application to apply to the Society for the shield.
