Floral Art Club Class

A definition of an exhibit as taken from the NAFAS Competitions Manual 4th Edition 2023
An exhibit is composed of natural plant material, in all its forms, with or without accessories, contained within a space as specified in a show schedule.
Disqualification will take place for the following reasons:
Failure to comply with any specific requirements of a class as stated in the show schedule, e.g., the measurements or components.
If inclusion of fresh plant material that does not have roots or the cut ends of stems are not in water or water-retaining material. Unless they fall in the exception category: Air plants, cacti, fruits, fungi, grass turf, lichen, moss, succulents, vegetables, and long-lasting plant material WHICH WILL REMAIN TURGID (not wilting) FOR THE DURATION OF THE SHOW.
If artificial plant material is used, i.e. no artificial flowers or fake grass, (unless specifically allowed by the show schedule).
Further details and definitions can be found in the current edition of the NAFAS Competitions Manual. All classes will be judged in accordance with this manual, a copy of which can be obtained from NAFAS website.
NAFAS is encouraging the use of alternatives to floral foam. In classes where floral foam can be used, we ask that an alternative method of arranging the flowers be used if possible.
All classes to be judged in accordance with NAFAS Competitions Manual, 4th Edition 2023 (Blue Book).
Class 801 is staged on a base 30cm from the ground, exhibitors to provide their own covering.
All exhibits, accessories and equipment are the responsibility of the exhibitor.
Exhibitors are requested to collect their exhibits promptly at the end of the Show on Saturday 3rd August in accordance with Taunton Flower Show Regulation, 2024. Only two exhibitors per entry will be allowed to dismantle exhibits.

Description:

CARNIVAL - A club or group exhibit.
Space allowed: width 125cm, depth 125cm. Height optional. Staged on a base supplied, 122cm width, 122cm depth, height 30cm from the ground. Exhibitors to provide total covering for this base.
To be viewed and judged all round. To be staged by no more than three exhibitors.
THE WESTERN PROVIDENT ASSOCIATION TROPHY will be awarded for the best exhibit. 2023 winner: Burnham Area Evening Flower Club

Class 802 and 806 are against the side of the marquee against a white background.
Class 802 is arranged on the ground or can be a pedestal. Exhibitors can provide their own base if required.
Classes 803 and 812 are staged on bases 30cm from ground covered with a black cloth. No individual backgrounds may be used.
Class 813 is for Novices. A novice is someone who has never entered a show or someone who has not previously won a first in any large show such as Bath and West, Taunton Flower Show, Devon County Show or Area Shows.
Class 814 will be staged on a table measuring width 182cm, depth 76cm, height 76cm. Covered with a black cloth although Exhibitors can provide their own covering to go on top of the black cloth.
All exhibits must be staged within the space provided. Only entries in classes 808, 809, 811 and 812 may be brought ready assembled. All measurements are approximate.

Steam Punk is inspired by Victorian era/industrialisation/mechanisation. Accessories play a more important role in this style than is usual, but plant material must predominate.

Staged on a table measuring width 183cm, depth 76cm, height 76cm. Plant material may flow over sides and corners by no more than 15cm. To be decorated by up to 2 people. Please provide all cloths to cover the table. To be viewed and judged all round.

Floristry

At least two-thirds of the finished design must be fresh flower and/or plant material. The fresh flower and/or plant material to be visually dominant. The judges will be looking for a high standard of technique and design. The design will be judged in the competitor's allocated space, but the wired design must be wearable. In classes where floral foam could be used, we ask that a biodegradable version is used if possible. All classes to be judged in accordance with Society of Floristry rules.
All exhibits must be staged within the space provided. All entries may be brought ready assembled. All measurements are approximate.
