Classes 6 & 7 only the following applies .
Must be registered with or over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership.
Owners of Pure bred Irish Draughts and Irish Draught Sport Horses/Part bred) must now be full members of the IDHS (GB) to compete
Must be the progeny of a Graded Mare (Class 1, Class 2, RID (GB), AID or Supplementary Grade Up Register) and be by a Class 1, 2 or RID (GB) stallion on the Irish Draught Breed Register.
Stallions - must also be inspected and over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and be Class 1, 2 or RID (GB). Ridden stallions must display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tails and riders must be 18 years of age or over
In hand - Yearling, two and three year old COLTS must be bitted and shown by an experienced handler of 18 years of age or over. All three year old colts must be un-inspected

Long Reining
Rules Specific to long reining classes.
Horses & Ponies must be 4 yrs and older.
Horses and Ponies must be Bitted, with a correctly fitted Bit.
No Dually Head Collars
Each competitor mus have a Groom, to go in the ring and satnd at the head in the line up.
Drivers and Grooms must wear approved saftey hat.
Drivers and Grooms are expected to dress smartly in competition attire, with suitable footwear.
No long reining in the public or lorrypark areas. Please lead you horse to the designated Long reining warm up
area, which will be ajacent to the ring (see map enclosed with your competitors pack)

Rising Star ridden horses
Classes 151-156 qualify for LIHS BSHA Rising Star Supreme Finals at the London International HorseShow,
highest placed unqualified in top 5 to qualify.
A results points table will run for all qualifying classes and a ‘wild card’ will be awarded to those
unqualified with the highest points in each section following the final qualifier.
The Judge will NOT ride exhibits in these classes or at the Finals.
Open to members and pre registered non-members, 15 yrs & over, eligible under Rising Star Amateur rules.

All three Style & Performance Series classes will be marked, and judged as follows:
Exhibitors will ride together as a class, which will be considered as part of the collective marks.
Exhibitors will then be asked to perform a freestyle show/ display (max 2.5 mins), which will be marked, to include, (but not restricted to), in any order:
• on both reins, walk, trot, canter.
• halt in the middle of the show/display for 4 secs before proceeding.
• a canter change of rein across the diagonal through trot or walk (5 strides max).
• lengthened canter strides.
• free walk on a long rein.
Marks:
Performance (not to exceed 2.5 minutes) 70 Marks

SENIOR OF YEAR CHAMPIONSHIP
SSADL Home Produced Qualifiers are OPEN to both Members and Non-Members of SSADL No Spurs with the exception to senior side saddle riders,who may wear a spur band or blunt/dummy spur.
No Galloping or canter extensions, No Wearing of Face/Body Jewellery with the exception to the ear ring used by competitors with health problems.
Foals are NOT permitted SSADL Classes. For In-Hand Classes- Minimum age of handler = 11 years old. First Ridden ponies/riders will be asked after the initial walk
round to come into the centre of the ring. First Ridden Competitors will only canter in their individual shows. Lead Rein Riders/First Ridden comprtitors: If a
strip section is required a lead rein rider MUST stay mounted.
STALLIONS- Either for In Hand or Ridden classes, Competitors Must be 16 years of age or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot
has been given. The same rider/handler/pony/horse combination must stay the same from qualifier to Grand Finals, unless special circumstances should
arise, then it will be left to the discretion of the Directors and Advisory Committee to oversee this rule if required.
ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD AQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH SSADL RULES BEFORE ENTERING SSADL Rulebook can be found at www.seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk
Qualification System: SSADL Members will receive their own qualification card. This is to be signed in the at time of
judging/presentation. This is the members’ responsibility to ensure the right qualifier is signed for.
1. 1 st to 6 th in each age group will qualify for the London International Horse Show 2 nd round qualifiers 2025.
2. 1 st to 6 th from each AGE section will qualify for the SSADL
Members Open Challenge. (Lead Rein Ponies are NOT permitted) Open to all types and Breeds.
Members Mountain and Moorland Challenge. (Lead Rein Ponies are NOT permitted)
Members Foreign Breeds Challenge.
3. The 6 highest placed Lead/or First Ridden Members Lead Rein/First Ridden Challenge
4. 1 st – 3 rd in each age group will qualify for the Senior of Year Championship
( If a competitor has already qualified the qualification can be passed down the line).
Once a member has filled out their qualification card to the relevant classes then said card must be sent into the Office
by normal post no later than the 30 th August 2025. REMEBER TO PHOTOCOPY YOUR CARD.
Non – Members Qualification cards will be handed out in the ring to the six highest placed
competitors in each section these are for Non-Members ONLY
Qualification cards MUST be returned to SSADL Head Office within the 10-day period of date of show along with a 2025 Membership
application completed and payment made. Once a qualification card/membership is sent in correctly along with payment only then will
Members be eligible for the Members Challenge Preliminary rounds and Challenge Finals to the held at the SSADL National
Championship Show on the 20 th &21 st September 2025 at Onley Grounds, Rugby, Warwickshire.
