Show Pony/ Hunter Section

These classes are open to non-BSPS members, however, this show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS, are subject to the constitution and rules of the BSPS, including their disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. BSPS Registered Number is BSPS 132/21. A copy of the constitution and rules is available upon request at the Stewards marquee on Show Day. Lead rein classes must be shown in SNAFFLE BRIDLES only and the attendant MUST FIX THE LEAD REIN TO THE NOSEBAND. First ridden ponies must be shown in SNAFFLE BRIDLES only.

Shetland Ponies

Native Bred Ponies Section B - Shetland Ponies. Ponies entering must be registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society and must be named on the entry form. Society Rosettes will only be given to registered Ponies or Foals eligible for registration. Height limit: Four years old and over must not exceed 42 inches. Three year old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on Show day. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. In-hand stallions aged 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge. There must be no colts or stallions in Young Handlers classes. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or stallions in In-hand classes. Children under 12 yrs old (on the day of the show) may not show stallions in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 yrs or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. In ridden classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, & takes no further part.

Ridden Horse Section

The Westmorland Agricultural Society is affiliated to Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain (SHB). Classes 53 - 60 are qualifiers for THE ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW, (RIHS) Hickstead 2022. Only horses registered on the 2021 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society. Day ticket (see above). The two highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the RIHS. In the Working Hunter Classes the three highest placed horses will qualify. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. In the Amateur hunter classes the lightweight section, the two highest placed smalls and the two highest placed lightweights will qualify and in the heavyweight section the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. Judges must place all horses to determine qualifiers. Classes 44, 47 – 52 are held under the rules of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain but are not affiliated to Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. Please note the SHB(GB) rules relating to attire for grooms – It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure that grooms entering the Show Ring are smartly and professionally turned out. RoR TATTERSALLS SCOTTISH SHOW SERIES
Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, any height. Riders must be aged 15 years or over. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband.. Horses should be plaited. The first 3 go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show 2022. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and have raced in GB. There will be a prize for the highest place veteran 15 years or over. The class will be run under the rules of the RoR. Horses to be ridden by the judge. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series.

Description:

RoR TATTERSALLS OPEN IN HAND SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER 2021
Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 3yrs and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Blemishes caused through racing will be ignored. Horses do not need to be shod to compete. Horses can be shown in a Bitless/In Hand Bridle. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the RoR Rules and Regulations from time to time in force.This class is a qualifier for the RoR OPEN In Hand Showing Series FINAL. The first three go forward to the final at The Jockey Club RoR National Championships at Aintree in August 2022. RoR prizes will not be awarded to RoR qualifiers with numbers forward of two or less, however qualification for final will stand.

All classes are held under the general rules & conditions recommended by British Dressage. Age of Exhibitor to be taken on 1st January in the year of the Show.
