JUNIOR HANDLER COMPETITION Confined to children of 11 years of age and under.
Up to a total of 20 points will be awarded for the quality, handling and sorting of eggs inclusive of knowledge questions. Breakdown of points awarded as follows:
1. The entered plate of eggs will be judged prior to the interview. Points will be awarded for the egg quality. MAX 4
2. The exhibitor will discuss the plate with the judge, during which the judge will asks five questions. Each correct answer will be awarded a point. Questions will be taken from the egg standard. MAX 5
3. The show will provide 12 eggs of all one category, Waterfowl, Large Fowl or Bantams.
Eggs will be identified by a pencil number and will include three with clear faults (stale/shell blemish/crack etc), three matching fresh eggs of good size (A), three close matches (B) and three all varying in size and shape.
The exhibitor will sort these into the best three and produce a plate of three eggs.
Judge awards as follows
• 3 points for every grade A egg
• 2 points for every grade B egg
• 1 point for other egg without faults
• 0 points for an egg with faults
NB The judge will be familiar with the quality of each marked egg so objective marking is possible. MAX 9
4. The judge observes the exhibitors handling of eggs during plating. Grading from good to poor, awarding points available 2,1 or 0. MAX 2
