Dairy Shorthorn
Name of animal not required on entry form. Exhibitors must be members of the Shorthorn Society of the UK and Ireland. All cattle must be registered in the Coates’ Herd Book or when coming from another Member State an officially approved herd book in that member state, be of Shorthorn colour and contain a minimum of 25% Shorthorn blood.
NORTH EASTERN SHORTHORN BREEDERS’ ASSOCIATION POINTS COMPETITION
Prize winners in the Pedigree Dairy Shorthorn Classes (1-4) at this Show are eligible to participate in the above competition. Points will be awarded as follows:- 1st 5 points; 2nd 3 points; 3rd 2 points; 4th 1 point, and the owner gaining the highest combined total of points at the end of the show season will be awarded the North Eastern Shorthorn Breeders’ Associations Prize. Owners must be members of the North Eastern Shorthorn Breeders’ Association. Results will be collated by the Secretary of the Yorkshire Federation of Show Societies and published as soon as possible.
The THOMAS BATES CENTENARY TROPHY
Presented by The LORD DE L’SLE & PENHURST, V.C., will be awarded for the Best Registered Dairy Shorthorn Female in Classes 1 to 4 inclusive.
The Trophy to be held for one year only.
A Championship Rosette is given by the Dairy Shorthorn Society. For Production/Inspection see class 32.
All trophies to be awarded in the Grand Parade commencing at 3.00 pm, each section to be lead in by the Champion.

If Black and White in colour animals be registered in the Herd Books full pedigree Ayrshire Section and be 100% Ayrshire blood. (note: Percentages are shown on all registration certificates)

1kg of fat and protein Ayrshire - 3.55 points. Shorthorn - 3.55 points. Jersey - 4.35 points.
Calving Index. 2 points will be added for every day under 400, and 2 points deducted for every day over.
A NMR Certificate, Cow Record Page or other official statement showing 1. Date of calving, 2. Number of Lactation, 3. Quality of Milk, 4. Number of days in milk, and 5. Average per cent of butterfat yielded in not more than 305 days of the last completed lactation must be submitted with the entry form for each lactation
(An animal in milk at the time of entry and likely to complete her lactation before the Show will not be eligible to compete on that lactation, but will be eligible on her previous lactation).
