Mare or Gelding. Handler 12yrs and up to 18yrs and must be accompanied by a capable adult. The winner of Class 8 will go forward to the Shire Horse Young Handler of the Year Championship, which will be hosted by the Midland Shire Foal Society at their annual show on the 27 September at Field House Equestrian Centre, Marchington, Uttoxeter, Staffs.

Any age, any breed of Heavy Horse to be shown in hand.

This class is a qualifier for the Shire Horse of the Year Championship, to be held at the NEC, Birmingham, 8th - 12th October 2025. This class is open to pure bred fully registered shires of two years old and over that are entered and exhibited in their appropriate breed classes at Qualifying Shows. Qualification will go to the highest place unqualified exhibit within the top five placings. HOYS £20. entry fee is covered by sponsorship for this section.

Open to plaited and Mountain & Moorland ponies (not to have won an open novice working hunter),
WHP Mare or Gelding 4 years and over. Rider under 18. Ponies not to exceed 148cms.
Maximum height of fence 70cms.

Unaffiliated Working Hunter Pony. Mare or Gelding 4 years and over. Rider any age. Ponies not exceeding 148cms. Maximum height of fence 75cms.

Unaffiliated working hunter, mare, gelding or stallion and ribbon in the tail of a stallion. 4 years or over, exceeding 153cms. Not to have won an open novice working hunter. Riders 16 years and over. Max height of fence 80cms.
Handlers must be 16 yrs or above.

Unaffiliated Open working hunter, mare, gelding or stallion and ribbon in the tail of a stallion. 4 years or over, exceeding 153cm. Rider 16 years or over. Max height of jump 90cms.

Open ONLY to Hunters, mare or gelding, 4 years
old and over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx.) Any horse which is registered /
previously registered as a Grade A showjumper, Advanced Eventer, or above, on 14
the 1st January of the current year, is not eligible. Rider to be 15yrs or over. Height
of fences: minimum 3’0”, maximum 3’3”, maximum spread 3’3”. Please note, the
height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Course builder/
BSHA Representative. A Rider may ride up to two Horses in the jumping phase only
and then must select one Horse to take through to the Individual Show & Conformation
stage. No change of Rider is allowed. The highest placed unqualified horse in the
top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Working Hunter Type Supreme
Final at the LIHS in December QUALIFICATION WILL BE CONFIRMED BY EMAIL
ONCE FULL LIHS QUALIFIED MEMBERSHIP & HORSE REGISTRATION IS
COMPLETED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF QUALIFICATION. Please note LIHS Qualifier
Eligible membership must be in place before entering any BSHA LIHS qualifying
class. In addition, the two highest placed unqualified horses will qualify for the Associate
Rising Star Working Hunter final at the BSHA National Championships Show in
September. Associate Rising Star Qualification Cards will be awarded in the ring.

Rising Star Working Show Horse: Open ONLY
to Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, mare or gelding, 4 years old and
over, exceeding 148cms. Any horse which is Grade B showjumper, Intermediate
Eventer, or above on the 1st January of the current year, is not eligible. Rider to be
15yrs or over. Height of fences: minimum 2’6”, maximum 2’9”, maximum spread
2’9”. Please note the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion
of the Course builder/ BSHA Representative. A Rider may ride up to two Horses
in the jumping phase only and then must select one Horse to take through to the
Individual Show & Conformation stage. No change of Rider is allowed. The highest
placed unqualified horse in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star
Working Show Horse Supreme Final at the LIHS in December. QUALIFICATION

138cms, or Small Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions i.e. Dartmoor, Exmoor,
Shetland, Welsh Section A & B.

Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122 cm. Registered in the Breed Society Stud Books of the Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Welsh Section A and B. Rider not to
have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January of the current year, to be shown on a Leading Rein, led by an attendant, shown in a snaffle bridle, lead rein to be
attached to nose band only.

Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128 cm. Registered in the Breed Society Stud Books of the Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Welsh Section A and B. Rider not
to have attained their 12th Birthday before 1st January of the current year. Any suitable bridle acceptable.

Pre Senior In Hand Pony or Horse 15-18 Years Old.

To be Judged on Ride Only. Ridden 4yrs & over any height. Stallion, mare or gelding, to be shown under saddle. Snaffle or double bridles. Martingales, drop, flash, grackle nose bands accepted. All horses MUST be registered at Wetherbys in the General Stud book. Copy of the horses passport will be required. All horses must be sound but any previous blemishes or injuries will not be penalised. Horse not already qualified can qualify to 4th. Midland Championships Qualifier Retraining of Racehorses Final at Eccleshall.
