Young Handler to display a Mare or Gelding. Handler 12yrs or over and must be accompanied by a capable adult.
The Shire Horse Society will once again be running the SHS Young Handler’s Accumulator Award in 2024. Points relative to placings will be awarded to those young handlers who are 2024 members of the Shire Horse Society. The winner will be announced at the end of the year.
Points will be awarded to the top five, with points awarded as follows: - 1st - 5 points, 2nd - 4 points, 3rd - 3 points, 4th - 2 points and
5th - 1 point.
The Champion Young Handler with the most points at the end of the year will win the trophy. Those taking part in the above should be Junior
members of the Society and are able to join mid-season if they are not already members. Points will only count once membership is taken up
and points will not be back dated. Junior memberships are £12 per annum and are open to those that have not attained their 18th birthday.

Any age, any breed of Heavy Horse to be shown in hand.

Agricultural Mare or Gelding, any age, to be shown in Shaft Gears, property of the exhibitor (no vehicles). 60% of points to be given for cleanliness of horse and gears. Clean, old tackle will be considered equally with new. £25 per entry will be given to each groom competing, to be paid out on the showground

Two Wheel Cart Class, any type of heavy horse.

Ridden Heavy Horse, any breed, Mare or Gelding 4 years old or over, Rider must be 16yrs and over.

This class is a qualifier for the Shire Horse of the Year Championship supported by the Shire Horse Society, to be held at the NEC, Birmingham, 9th -13th of October 2024.
This class is open to pure bred fully registered shires of two years old and over that are entered and exhibited in their appropriate breed classes at Qualifying Shows. The Shire Horse Society reserve the right to share your membership data with Grandstand Media Limited in compliance with the Horse of The Year Show (HOYS) Rules and Regulations. This sharing is for the purpose of HOYS matters to include, but not limited to, qualification or disciplinary. This class will be judged at the conclusion of the Championship. Shire Horse of the Year supported by the Shire Horse Society.

Novice Working Hunter, (not to have won an open novice working hunter), Unaffiliated Nursery Stakes. WHP Ponies 4 years and over Rider 12 years and under, Ponies not to exceed 133cms. Maximum height of fence 70cms

Open ONLY to Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, mare or gelding four years old and over, exceeding 148cms. The highest placed unqualified in the top 5 will qualify for the
LIHS BSHA Rising Star Working Show Horse Supreme Final at the LIHS in December.
Any horse which is Grade B showjumper, Intermediate Eventer, or above as at 1st January of the current year, is not eligible. Height of fences: minimum 2’6”, maximum 2’9”, maximum
spread 2’9”. Please note the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Coursebuilder/ BSHA Representative.

Open to Hunters, mare or gelding four years old and over, exceeding 148cms. The highest placed unqualified in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Working Hunter
Supreme Final at the LIHS in December.
Any horse which is registered / previously registered as a Grade A showjumper, Advanced Eventer, or above as at 1st January of the current year, is not eligible. Height of fences:
minimum 3’0”, maximum 3’3”, maximum spread 3’3”. Please note the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Course builder/ BSHA Representative

Open Cob Class, 4 years old and upwards on showday, riders any age. This class includes maxi cobs

Open Hunter, 4 yrs old and upwards, exceeding 148cms. Rider must have attained their 16th birthday before 1st January in the current year

Open Small Hunter, exceeding 148cm, but not exceeding 158cm. To be ridden. Rider to have attained their 16th birthday before 1st January in the current year

Novice Ridden Hunter, not having won a First Prize of £25 or a total of £100 in Prize Money in any ridden hunter classes before 1st January in the current year. Rider to have attained their 16th birthday before 1st January in the current year

Ladies Open Hunter, rider to have attained their 16th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be ridden exceeding 148cms. This class is open to the S.S.A members and non members

Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms, suitable to carry a side saddle, to
be ridden side saddle by a lady. Open to all Hacks, Cobs, Riding Horses and Hunters. The
highest placed unqualified in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Ladies
Show Horse Supreme Final at the LIHS in December.

BSPS Heritage Mountain and Moorland Large Breeds. To be registered in the respective Pure Bred Stud books of the Welsh Section C, D, Connemara, New Forest, Highland, Fell and Dales. Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over. Rider any age.

BSPS Heritage Mountain and Moorland Small Breeds. To be registered in the respective Pure Bred Stud Books of the Welsh Section A, B, Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor. Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over. Rider any age.
Special rosette offered by the Shetland Pony Society for the best registered Shetland.

Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122 cm. Registered in the Breed Society Stud Books of the Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest and Welsh Section A and B, and must not have competed in Classes 31 - 40. Best Retrained Racehorse - to be Judged on Ride Only Ridden 4yrs and over any height. Stallion, mare or gelding, to be shown under saddle. Snaffle or double bridles. Martingales, drop, flash, grackle nose bands accepted. All horses MUST be registered at Wetherbys in the General Stud book. Copy of the horses passport will be required. All horses must be sound but any previous blemishes or injuries will not be penalised. Horse not already qualified can qualify to 4th.
