Show Description

Taking place in the Heavy Horse Village, a purpose-built large Heavy Horse Ring with competitions followed by demonstrations.

This Show is a qualifier for the West of England Heavy Horse Championship which will be held on Sunday 13th September 2026 at Turnpike Showground.

The Shaftesbury Corpn. Perpetual Championship Challenge Cup - Presented by the Mayor and Corporation of Shaftesbury to Best Animal in Classes 52-56. The Champion & Reserve will be selected from the winners of Classes 52 – 56.
The Twyferry St George Perpetual Memorial Trophy - Kindly presented by Mr & Mrs James Monks for the Best Entry in Class 52.
The Speckington Perpetual Challenge Cup - Presented by H. T. Parsons, Esq., late owner of the Speckington Stud, for the Best Mare in Class 53.
The Hiscock Perpetual Challenge Cup - Presented by Mr. & Mrs. F.J. Hiscock for the Best Entry in Class 54.
The Webber Perpetual Challenge Tankard - Presented by Mrs. Ann Webber for the Best Exhibit in Class 55.
The Gillingham Town Council Perpetual Challenge Cup - Presented by Gillingham Town Council for the Best Entry in Classes 58 & 59.
The Randy Hiscock Perpetual Memorial Trophy - for the Best Suffolk Punch in Classes 52-59.

Important Notice to all Exhibitors – Following the completion of judging, all heavy horses are required to participate in the Heavy Horse Grand Parade in the Dorset Life Main Ring.
The Show will pay the following turnout fees to exhibitors participating in the Heavy Horse Grand Parade: £75 per exhibitor in the In-Hand classes or £170 per exhibitor in the vehicle classes. Payment will be made via Bacs within 30 days of the Show. Exhibitors are required to submit their relevant banking details to the Show Office by no later than Thursday 20th August 2026 to be eligible to claim turnout fees. Failure to participate in the Heavy Horse Grand Parade will result in no payout being made.
Heavy Horses arriving on Wednesday are ONLY permitted to arrive via Gate 4 located on the B3081, please see map included at the start of the Equine Schedule. Stabling will only be available to heavy horse exhibitors participating in the non-competition Heavy Horse Village activities.
