Class:5 NBCC QUALIFYING: LIVE FORGING
NBCC QUALIFYING: LIVE FORGING To be competed for during the Show.
Live Forging, in a TIME ALLOWED of TWO HOURS.
Blacksmiths will have two hours and a piece of 25x12mm bar 300mm long to forge into an Animal or Insect using purely manual techniques.
Mechanical tools and firewelding are strictly prohibited.
The judge will evaluate technical section transformation and forging mastery, specifically looking for skilful splitting, bending, upsetting, punching, texturing and riveting.
(All parts must be made from the same section).

Each piece to be made within a maximum of 1 hour and of their own choice.
Competitors to supply their own materials, or use what is available at the forge on the day.
A winning piece will be selected daily by a member of the public.
The winning piece will be retained for a presentation.
The maker of the piece will receive a cash prize of £50.00 (fifty pounds).

LIVE FORGING COMPETITION, BOTTLE OPENER (SPONSORED) To be competed for during the Show.
A fun competition where a blacksmith has 20 minutes to make a bottle opener.
(Students 30 minutes). At the end of each day the representative from the sponsor or DCAA official will judge the best one from that day and the winner will take away some bottles (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
The judge will be able to take the chosen opener home with them.
A range of stock is available for use but makers can bring their own stock.
One attempt per day and items from the previous days rollover.
