Sunflowers can be created from any non-perishable material and will be displayed at or near the entrance to the Crafts & Flowers Marquee at the 2026 Devon County Show. This class is not judged—children can enjoy seeing their sunflower on display and collect a special sticker for taking part in the sunflower display from the Primary Times team in the Junior Competitions area.

Description:

SCHOOL CLASS ONLY
Title: “Grow a Greener Future!”
Theme: “How flowers, gardens and wildlife can help fight climate change.”
Brief:
To create a bright and colourful poster showing how caring for flowers, gardens, and
wildlife can protect our planet. The aim is to inspire young people to think about how
nature helps us tackle climate change, and how we can all play our part in keeping
gardens and wild spaces healthy.
Minimum size of poster A3, maximum size A0.
Ideas for Inspiration:
• Planting trees, flowers, or wildflower meadows.
• Creating bee- and butterfly-friendly gardens.
• Looking after birds, hedgehogs, and other garden wildlife.
• Growing fruit and vegetables to eat from the garden.
• Saving water when gardening (e.g. water butts, watering cans).
• Composting food and garden waste.
• Celebrating the colours and beauty of flowers as a symbol of a thriving planet.

• Clear climate-friendly message linked to flowers, gardens or wildlife.
