Donkeys

4 years and over. To be led & no handler under 18yrs. Note - no stallions to be entered in any other in hand classes

Donkeys of any age. To be judged 75% condition and 25% turnout. Conformation must not be taken into account. Winner of this class does not qualify for the Championships.

Mares of 4 years and over, and Broodmares of 5 years old and over with own foal at foot. Foals to be 6 weeks old and over. Winner to receive Albert Irvine Cup.

4 years old and over. The winner will receive the Braughinh Cornelium Perpetual Trophy. Kindly presented by Dr Yvonne Canavan

Must be owned by a DBS member living within a 25 mile radius of the show ground. (No entry fee for class 106 only)

Handler not to have obtained his/her 16th birthday on show day. To be judged on the ability of the Young Handler and not on conformation of the Donkey. (Entry fee £3.00 for class 112 only) Winner of class 112 will receive the Blackford Trophy and £10 presented by by Mrs Mary Sievewright.

1, 2 or 3 years old. Colt over 1 year old to be handled by an adult.

Donkeys entered must be four years old or over and must have a correctly fitting bridle and saddle. All riders must wear an approved (PAS015) correctly fitting hard hat to conform to the current BSI standards. Children of 8 years or under (minimum 3 years) may be led. When a child competes on a leading change to lead rein the Donkey must be led by a competent adult 18 year and over. Lead reins must be attached to the noseband and bit.
Donkeys: Riders:
Up to 10.2hh (105cms) not over 8 stone (50kgs) + 4'0'' (120cms)
10.2-11.0hh (105-110cms) not over 8 stone (50kgs) + 4'6'' (135cms)
11.0-12.0hh (110-120cms) not over 8 stone (50kgs) + 5'0'' (150cms)
12.0-14.0hh (120-140cms) not over 8 stone (50kgs) + 5'6'' (165cms)
Over 14hh (140cms) no restrictions

To be judged entirely on suitability as a family pet. Conformation will not be taken into account.

1       This Qualifying Championship is for Donkey Mare with Foal at Foot.
2        All Exhibitors must have the Dam’s passport. (in accordance with EU legislation for all entries which includes Donkeys), ready for inspection at the Qualifying Show and Final.
3        Two Donkeys to qualify if Judges & I.S.A agree that the standard is high enough.
4 The Qualifying Exhibitor must fill out their own Qualifying Card at each Qualifying Show.

Winner of the Exercise class will receive The Ballaghenry Perpetual Trophy presented by Mr Thomas Magaill.
