Stithians Show is one of the largest one day Agricultural Shows in the South West of England but maintains its friendly and local atmosphere. It is held on its own Showground, just outside the village of Stithians, covering some 75 acres. As such, the Show benefits from purpose built and laid out roadways and generous free car parking areas.
For the visitor we provide the complete experience with varied musical entertainment on the main stage and St Stythians Band will perform on the band stand throughout the day.
There are competitive sections for many animals: cage birds, cattle, dogs and dog agility, goats, horses, pigeons, and sheep as well as a rare breeds display which varies in content from year to year. The horse show runs throughout the day in three to four rings.
There is an Arts, Craft & Cookery (ACC) Marquee where there are many different craft, art, sewing and photographic competitions as well as cookery, wine and jam making competitions. Adjacent to the ACC marquee is found the Cornwall Federation of Women’s Institute Marquee and the Cornwall Young Farmers’ Club Marquee.
The Horticulture Marquee always offers a splendid display of flowers and vegetables with many very skilled arrangements.
Always popular is the Taste of Cornwall Marquee where locally produced foods are showcased and offered for sale.
A Countryside Area showcases rural crafts, ancient and modern.
There are two good sized Food Courts offering a diverse range and of course plenty of ice cream vendors dotted around the Showground. Additionally there is a luncheon marquee where a sit down buffet meal may be obtained (advance bookings only).
In the main building, and, due to increasing popularity a substantial marquee, there are Craft Stalls and, of course, the Trade Stands offer shopping opportunities around the Showground.
There is a fairground offering full sized rides and steam and vintage vehicles are displayed.
The ever popular parade of hounds takes place in the main ring during the afternoon. There is usually a chance to meet the hounds and the huntsmen.
In the evening there is a Grand Concert at 8 p.m. in the luncheon marquee.
