Class: 1 Best Managed Farm

Description:

The judge will take into consideration the efficiency of the farming system appropriate to the farm’s size, type and location. They will evaluate the layout, design and use of the buildings and the quality of the stock, crops and grassland.

Description:

Working farmers and landowners who have undertaken a project and done the most to further environmental sustainability and protection and the ideals of conservation in keeping with local conditions and the environment.

Note re Classes 3 – 7 - The stock classes are designed to encourage good husbandry. Therefore the judge will be asked to take into account the management, marketing, general husbandry and conformation of the herd. All cattle in the respective classes must be shown, other stock at the judge’s discretion.

Description:

General stock which shall include Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Pigs etc, according to the extent and quality of the farm.

Description:

Dairy herd of any size in the Society’s area, to include all cattle which have produced a calf.

Description:

Open to young people aged 30 years and under judged on farm during August. The class is aimed at youngsters with ambition, initiative and industry knowledge. The exhibitor must be actively involved in cattle related farming (dairy or beef) and demonstrate to the judge, in practise and/or during discussion, animal husbandry, breeding, commercial awareness etc.
Allocation of marks:
- presentation of the herd
- management and understanding of cattle farming
- marketing, commercial awareness
- breeding policy, animal husbandry

Results will be published following judging with prizes presented at the 2025 Show. Entries close Thursday 24th October.

20% breeding policy
