Description:

122cms to 148cms or under. Ponies 5 years and over. Riders 12 years or over on the date of the HOYS championship. Riders will be asked to give a short show and jump two fences at 2ft and 2ft 3in. Adults and children may enter and ride ponies in this class as long as their weight and size is appropriate, decision of the judge is final on the suitability of horse and rider. Unsuitable combinations will be eliminated.
Class judged on 50% conformation, temperament, type and manners and 50% performance. Judges will ensure that conformation and temperament will allow the pony to be a competent all round performer, capable of doing most work including jumping and dressage. Harmony of pony and rider will be taken into account. Jumping style and approach is important and the judges will not ride. The same bridle must be worn throughout and snaffle bridles will not be penalised, no running gags, martingales are optional.
Tweed or show jackets. Please see schedule for dress code for rider and groom.

Description:

Owners and riders do not have to be a member of the TGCA but horses have to be registered in the TGCA traditional gypsy cob stud book. Traditionals will not be ridden by the judge or the judge‘s representative, but will give a show. The traditional gypsy cob should be a strong, sturdy and powerful cob coupled with an abundance of luxuriant flowing mane, forelock, tail, and leg hair known as feather.

Riders can be show horse producers. Horses and ponies will compete together and will be expected to canter together as a class, they are likely to be asked to extend. No lead reins. There are no amateur restrictions in this class. The horse or pony will not be ridden by the judge and the competitor will be expected to give a show. Horses may be ridden side saddle.

Description:

Only Open to members of the Pony Club aged 11 and under but over 5 on the date of the YHL Championship. Riders, owners and handlers must meet the SFAS amateur criteria. Pony must be 128cms or under and meet the Search for a Star Amateur criteria. Pony must be over 4 years old.
Snaffle bridles only. Lead rein must be attached to the noseband and not the bit and the child should be able to rise to the trot. No spurs allowed.
Judged on conformation, way of going and temperament to be able to take part in Pony Club activities with a young child, pony will not be stripped but will give a show.
Lunging will be allowed if the venue permits, but the pony must only be ridden by the competitor. Handlers of the lead rein pony should be suitably dressed with a hat and suitable footwear, ponies to be plaited unless they are registered mountain and moorland, traditional or native types. Horses and ponies that have been placed in the Pretty Polly Championships at RIHS are eligible to compete in the Pony Club Search for a Star Pony Club classes.

Description:

Riders, owners and handlers must meet the SFAS amateur criteria. Pony must be 13.2hh or under and meet the Search for a star Amateur criteria. Pony must be over 4 years old.
Snaffle bridles only. No spurs allowed. Judged on confirmation, way of going and temperament to be bale to take part in Pony Club activities with a young child. Ponies will be stripped for confirmation and they will be asked to do the set show. Must be ridden independently but will not be asked to canter as a class.
Lungeing will be allowed if the venue permits, but the pony must only be ridden by the competitor. Ponies to be plaited unless they are registered mountain and moorland, native, or traditional types. Ponies that have been placed in the Pretty Polly Championships at RIHS are eligible to compete in the Pony Club Search for a Star classes.

Horses and ponies to be plaited unless they are registered mountain and moorland, native or traditional types.
The animal should be an athletic type capable of doing all round Pony Club activities. The class will be judged on conformation, way of going and temperament. The horse or pony will not be ridden by the judge but the competitor will be asked to give a set show. Open to any type of horse or pony that is athletic enough to be an all-rounder but correct enough to be a show horse. Horses and ponies that have been placed in the Pretty Polly Championships at RIHS are eligible to compete in the Pony Club Search for a
Star Pony Club classes.

Description:

Open to any equine that is adopted, fostered, under a guardianship scheme from any National Equine Welfare Council registered Charity (NEWC).
or
Any equine that has been adopted, fostered, under a guardianship scheme from any other equine charity (must be registered with the Charity Commission)
or
Any equine that has been ‘independently’ rescued by an individual. There must be supporting evidence (photographic, veterinary) that will be requested in the ‘Rescue History’ for the equine, to demonstrate their rescue status.
Handlers 10 years of age or over on the date of the YHL championship. Horses/ ponies 3 years of age or over. Horses/ponies must be shown in a bridle with a bit. A coupling is recommended but not obligatory. History of the rescue horse or pony is required on entry, criteria will be checked by the Rescue Equine Showing Society. No refunds will be made if the horse or pony does not meet the criteria, however the entry can be moved to another class if requested by competitor.
