Show Description

The Royal Cornwall Shows hosts one of 10 heats of The National Blacksmiths Competition, organised by the NBC Committee and the Cornish Blacksmiths Collective with prizes donated by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths. The competition is open to professionals, non-professionals, students and supporters of the trade.
This is an opportunity for the public to see Blacksmiths from all over Cornwall and surrounding counties exhibiting their skills on the anvil throughout the day, along with Live Forging and Static Competitions displaying a range of high-quality ironwork.
The Live Competitions consist of the main 2 Hour timed event in which entrants must produce a piece of to a set theme and 30 mins to produce a saleable item of their choice. Along with a Cornish Blacksmith Award which is decided by public vote throughout the event.
The Static Categories range from Interior and Exterior pieces, Sculptures and functional items (such as Damascus knives, axes and tooling). All of which have been produced in the entrant's own workshops.
There will be displays from local Blacksmiths who will be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have about Blacksmithing.
