Judging to commence at 8.30 a.m. in Main Ring

A Shield (which will be supplied and engraved by The Clydesdale Horse Society) & Rosette will be awarded to the best yearling or two-year-old colt or filly, registered or eligible for registration with the Society, not having won a shield before in its lifetime. The exhibitor must be a current member of the Clydesdale Horse Society. Geldings are not eligible for this award. Any horse with a clipped tail, subject to transitional arrangements for this year only, cannot be awarded the Clydesdale Horse Society Shield.

Description:

An engraved medal is presented by The Clydesdale Horse Society to the best young handler aged 12 - 16. That person will also receive a Young Handler qualifier rosette on the day of the show. Qualifiers from any show held prior to 30th April in any year will qualify for the Young Handler final at the Royal Highland Show in the year of that show. Qualifier after 30th April in any year will qualify for Young Handler Final at the following year’s Royal Highland Show. A merit rosette will be given to all entrants in the class. The James Bennett Fund generously sponsors the Young Handler Scheme and The Young Handler Final.

Irish Draught

This show is affiliated to the Irish Draught Society (GB)

Judging to commence in the Main Ring after the Sport Horse

This show is a Qualifier for The Irish Draught Owners & Breeders Group Youngstock Challenge. The two highest placed Pure-Breds from each age group not already qualified in Class 17 will qualify. If one or both have already qualified, the horse next in line in each age group will qualify. Horses entered into this class must be eligible under the criteria listed below.
At the final, there will be three preliminary classes with the two highest placed semi-finalists from each class going forward to the Championship. The Champion will receive £500 and the Reserve Champion £150.

This show is affiliated to the Irish Draught Society (GB) and as such all exhibitors in classes 15, 16, 17 & 18 must be eligible under the below criteria:-
• All horses must be registered with or over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership
• Owners of Pure Bred Irish Draughts and Irish Draught Sport Horse (Part Bred) must be full members of the IDHS (GB) to compete
• Irish Draught Part Breds (Sport Horse) are horses that have a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding

• In hand breeding classes
o MARES with foals at foot, 3 years and over must be inspected and classified as Class 1 (or RID), Class 2 or Supplementary Grade Up (or AID)
o Pure Bred youngstock must be the progeny of an inspected Mare (Class 1, Class 2, RID (GB), AID or Supplementary Grade Up Register) and be by a Class 1, 2 or RID (GB) stallion on the Irish Draught Breed Register.
o Pure Bred ID and ID Part Bred (Sport Horse), 3 year old colts must be un-inspected
o All 1, 2 & 3 year old colts must be bitted and shown by an experienced handler over 18 years of age

GENERAL QUALIFIER INFORMATION:
• The Finals of all IDHS (GB) qualifiers will be held at the IDHS (GB) National Championship Show on 5th & 6th September 2026 at Pickering Grange Equestrian, Pickering Grange Farm, Ellistown, Terrance Road, Coalville, LE67 1EZ.
• All owners of qualified horses will be contacted by a member of the IDHS (GB) Show Affiliation Team
• Horses can only qualify for a specific Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered

The Horse & Country Racehorses (HCR) series is open to Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds who have raced, trained or been bred to race. Racing injuries will be ignored providing the horse is sound. Riders must be 14 years plus, ridden horses must be 4 years plus and veterans are 12 years plus. Judges will not ride and you will not be asked to gallop as a ride but maybe asked to gallop in your individual show. Qualifying shows are open to members and non-members.

This show is affiliated to CHAPS.

Judging to commence at 8.30am in Show Jumping Field

Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and have a valid Qualifier card. Members to apply to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. Shows held after 9th Aug will count as 2026 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers (32, 33, 34 & 35). Highland Ponies

This show is affiliated to the Highland Pony Society.

Judging to commence at 8.30 a.m. in Main Ring

• This show is a qualifier for the 2026 Highland Pony Society Youngstock Championships.
• The Champion youngster across classes 43 and 44 will qualify for the Highland Pony Youngstock Championships. If already qualified, the card will pass to the second placed pony but no further.
• Only pure bred registered Highland youngstock; foals, 1, 2 and 3yrs olds may enter.
• Two Championships will be held; one in Scotland (CSHPC Show at Strathallan Castle on 6th September 2026) and one in England in September 2026 – venue tbc). The qualifying exhibitor can select which Championship Show they wish to enter.
• Exhibitors are not required to be members of the Highland Pony Society for qualifying classes. However, all those competing in the Championships must be members of the Society.
• Entry to the Championships is free.
• At the Youngstock Championships, the Champions and Reserves will receive rosettes and prize money of £100 and £50 respectively and all those forward at the finals will receive £15 and a finalist rosette. A sash and perpetual trophy will be awarded to each of the Champions.
•New for 2026. Additional awards will be presented at the Finals to recognise the best foal, best yearling, best 2 year old, best female, best colt and best gelding.

Highland Pony Society Junior Awards
• All Juniors aged under 18 on 1st January showing a registered Highland pony in an In Hand or Ridden will receive a Junior Award Card, which may be returned to HPS to claim a Junior Rosette.
• This show is a qualifier for the exciting new 2026 Highland Pony Society Junior Handler Finals. If you receive a Junior Award Card in an In Hand Class, you have automatically qualified for the finals.
• Juniors do not need to be a member of the Highland Pony Society to qualify or to enter the final.
• Two finals will be held, one in Scotland at the CSHPC Summer Show on Sunday 6th September 2026 at Strathallan Castle, Auchterarder, Perthshire and one and at a Southern venue to be confirmed.
• Entry to the final is free and there will be some lovely rosettes and prizes to all finalists.

Shetland Ponies

This show is affiliated to the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society. All classes are confined to Registered Ponies.

Judging at 8.30 a.m. in Main Show Field adjacent to Main Ring

Horses can only be shown in one class except Young Handlers, Group & Ridden Classes.

1. Classes must be confined to SPS-BS registered ponies. Ponies must be named on the entry form and in the catalogue if one is produced. Society rosettes must only be given to ponies registered with the Society or to foals eligible for registration.
2. Three-year-old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the Show.
3. IN ORDER TO ENTER A STALLION CLASS AT AN AFFILIATED SHOW, ENTIRE MALES AGED 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER MUST HAVE AN “S” NUMBER AND HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY THROUGH EITHER THE SPS-BS STALLION ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO 2006 OR THE CURRENT 16 SPSBS VOLUNTARY VETERINARY EXAMINATION. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. Inhand entire males 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge.
4. There must be no colts or entire males in Young Handlers classes. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. Children under 12 years old on the day of the show may not show entire males in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in Inhand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. Ridden and driven ponies must be 4 years old or over. In ridden Classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part.
