BREEDING PIGS
These classes are held under BPA Special Conditions.
Pigs to have been registered in a published volume or accepted for entry in a forthcoming volume of the British Pig Association or British Lop Society Herd Books. (It is not sufficient for an animal to be eligible for registration).
Animals registered in a grading Register of a Herd Book are not eligible for entry in Agricultural Show Classes.
The ear number, registration name, Herd Book number and date of birth of each pig, for printing in the catalogue.
At all Shows in 2026, Female pigs (all breeds) born before 1st January 2023 shall be eligible to compete only if in the six calendar months prior to the Show they have farrowed suckled and reared to four weeks of age, a litter of pigs.
At all Shows in 2026. female pigs born on after 1st January and before 1st July in the year before the show, MUST within 18 months of their date of birth, farrowed, suckled and reared to four weeks of age a litter of pigs.
All Boars must be shown by two competent adult handlers equipped with protective boards.
The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder on pigs as well as the removal or addition of spots by artificial means is prohibited (white wood flour is permitted).
Exhibitors must abide by the Pigs (records, Identification and Movement) Order 2003.
All animals brought to the Show must be individually identified using tattoos or notches as appropriate for the breed with ear tags showing DEFRA herd mark and a unique individual number for the pig

Pig Young Handlers Competition
Open to Young Handlers 16 years of age or under. Entry is restricted to young handlers leading animals owned
by the exhibitors who have supplied class entries. Classes will be judged on the handlers’ ability. The Pig
should be suited to the age of the handler and the age of the handler must be shown on the entry form. No
Boars or Sows can be shown in the Young Handler Classes. Handlers to be suitably dressed.
Entries may be taken on the day of the Show if room.

Prizes: Prizes: £6, £5, £4, Rosettes for all entrants.
