Foxhunter:

(a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 700 points. Four double clears will qualify – in accordance with rule 310.6

(b) For all registered horses born on or after 1 January 2019, irrespective of points. Horses will be eligible for double clear qualification to attend second rounds providing they reach the age of seven years or under in the same calendar year as the Foxhunter Final - in accordance with rule 310.6 Four double clears will qualify. Four double clears will qualify for the Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds.

Qualifying period: The Senior Foxhunter Second Round qualifying period 1st May – 30th April (subject to revision). Those horses that have qualified for the Senior Foxhunter Championship in 2026 are not eligible for qualification to the 2027 Championship.

If combined with an open: In the event of 30 or more starters the class will be split with two sets of prize money.

Description:

Rule 274. Table A - speed 375mpm - Start Height 1.25m - 1.40m Joker Fence - 1.50m
Limited to 30 Entries - Drawn Order
Six, eight or ten obstacles, which are progressively more difficult. No combination obstacles are allowed. The progressive difficulty is not solely due to the height and spread of the obstacles but also to the difficulty of the track. Points are awarded as follows:
One point for obstacle No 1 cleared, two points for No 2, three points for No 3 etc, with a total of 21,36 or 55 points. No point is awarded for an obstacle knocked down. Faults other than knock-downs are penalized as for Table A and any of these faults, including time faults are converted into points and deducted from any jumping points scored.
In the event of equality of points for first place, there will be a jump-off against the clock over a shortened course, over obstacles that may be increased in height and/or spread. The obstacles in the jump-off must be jumped in the same order as in the first round and retain their respective points allotted in the first round.
This competition may also take place directly against the clock.
For the last obstacle of the course, an alternative obstacle may be provided, of which one part may be designated the Joker. The Joker must be more difficult than the alternative obstacle and carry double points. If the Joker is knocked down, the points must be deducted from the total.

Class: 5 BSPS 148 Working Sports Pony (Direct Qualifier for London International Horse Show)

Description:

The BSPS/LIHS Working Sports Pony 148cm, for mares or geldings, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 148cm. Riders not to have attained their 18th birthday on the 1st January in the current year. (Height of fences 85cm) Ponies must be shown plaited, running plaits providing the forelock is plaited, are permissible. To be ridden in any suitable bridle, including a correctly fitted running martingale.
Competitors may compete two ponies in each qualifying class. The highest placed pony will count for final placings. The same pony/rider combinations can only qualify in one class. Competitors can compete in both classes, but will qualify for the final in the first class they qualify in. Riders can only qualify one pony in each class.
There will be 15 qualifying rounds. The highest placed pony not already qualified will qualify for the final providing the pony, owner and rider are registered with the BSPS within seven days.
A JMB height certificate is not required.
All other rules for competing in WHP classes apply in these classes. All BSPS rules apply to these classes.
BSPS LIHS Working Sports Pony Method of Judging.
The class will be judged by one judge.
At the final the height of fences will remain at 85cm for class 1 and 95cm class 2.
The course will consist of a minimum of 10 fences, maximum of 12 fences.
Riders will enter the ring individually, and present their pony to the judge, who will assess the pony’s conformation, freedom of movement, (asking the rider walk and trot back before commencing their jumping round) type and athleticism. Awarding a mark out of 10.
The judges will award up to 30 marks for style, technique and athleticism whilst jumping.
At end of the jumping round the rider will gallop the pony down the long side of the ring, for which a mark out of 10 will be awarded
Riders will then canter, trot, walk and halt, demonstrating, manners, correct paces and training, for which a mark of 10 will be awarded.
A final mark of 10 will awarded for the style, position and effectiveness of the rider.

Height of fences: minimum 3’0”, maximum 3’3”, maximum spread 3’3”. Please note, the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Course Builder / BSHA Representative.
A Rider may ride up to two Horses in the jumping phase only and then must select one Horse to take through to the Individual Show & Conformation stage. No change of Rider is allowed.
The highest placed unqualified horse in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Working Hunter Type Supreme Final at the LIHS in December

PHASE 1

8 rustic jumps 70cm to 80cm with a maximum spread of 75cm.
The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round:
10 points to be deducted for a knock down, 15 points to be deducted for a refusal, 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall or Error of Course.

PHASE 2
Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class).
Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Fences for the final at Aintree can be up to a maximum of 85cm with a spread of 80cm.

Open Style & Performance Classes
Both Style & Performance Series classes are open to exhibits shown astride or side saddle (ladies only) and will be marked, and judged as follows:
Exhibitors will ride together as a class, which will be considered as part of the collective marks. Exhibitors will then be asked to perform a freestyle show/ display (max 2.5 mins), which will be marked, to include, (but not restricted to), in any order:
• on both reins, walk, trot and canter.
• halt in the middle of the show/display for 4 secs before proceeding.
• a canter change of rein across the diagonal through trot or walk (5 strides max).
• lengthened canter strides.
• free walk on a long rein.

Marks:
Performance (not to exceed 2.5 minutes) 140 Marks

Open Style & Performance Young Rider: Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm. Open to ALL types, riders aged 15-25 years (Riders will be eligible from the date of their 15th birthday. Riders aged 25 yrs on 1st January 2026 will be eligible for this class). This is a flat class to be judged solely on performance; there will be no conformation marks awarded, and exhibits will not be stripped.

In Lead Rein WSP classes the Judges will be looking for a pony suitable for a child to begin their future in Working Sports Pony classes. Ponies will be shown unplaited and to their breed standard.

Criteria
• The Leader must be 16 years old or over and may only lead one pony in a class.

• Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the handle or to the saddle. The Lead Rein must be affixed to the noseband on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring.
• Whilst in the ring ponies must always be led by the leader.
• The Leader must lead on the near side with the lead rein in the left hand.
• RIDERS - Hats in accordance with BSPS Rules, Tweed Jackets, Beige or cream jodhpurs, Shirt, tie, boots and gloves.
• Body protectors are compulsory in this class.

LIHS 2026: 17th – 21st December

Competitors and horses must hold a minimum of LIHS Qualifier-Eligible Membership/ Horse Registration with the Association to be eligible to compete in the LIHS BSHA Showing series. Any competitor who qualifies for a LIHS Showing Series Supreme Final, must then complete full LIHS Qualified registration within 14 days of qualification for their qualification to stand, or it will pass to the next eligible exhibit (the nominal cost of Qualifier-Eligible membership will be taken off the cost of Full LIHS registration). Any competitors/ horses which have existing BSHA membership/ registration for 2026 will not be required to complete any LIHS Membership / Registration for these classes.

Class 29 qualifies for LIHS BSHA Showing Series Supreme Finals at the London International Horse Show, highest placed unqualified in top five to qualify.

A results points table will run for all qualifying classes, and a ‘wild card’ will be awarded to those unqualified with the highest points in each section following the final qualifier.
The Judge will NOT ride exhibits in these classes or at the Finals.

The highest placed unqualified horse in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Open Racehorse to Show Horse Supreme Final at the LIHS in December. This class is open to all competitors.

QUALIFICATION WILL BE CONFIRMED BY EMAIL ONCE FULL LIHS QUALIFIED MEMBERSHIP & HORSE REGISTRATION IS COMPLETED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF QUALIFICATION.

Description:

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, any height, must have raced in GB and have current RoR Competition Membership. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2026. Horses will be ridden by the Judge and will be stripped for conformation assessment. Horses to be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited.

Horses may remain in the Tattersalls RoR Novice Ridden Show Series (Formerly RoR Jockey Club Novice Show Series) classes until they have won three Tattersalls RoR Novice Show Series Qualifiers. They are de-noviced on their third novice win or at midnight on the day they win an open class, whichever happens first. They are still eligible to compete in the Tattersalls RoR Novice Final at The Jockey Club RoR National Championships.

Description:

Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2026. The Series is open to AMATEUR riders only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration. Amateur definition:
The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition, a person classed as an amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as a brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season:

Engage(d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st, 2025. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 3yrs and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Handlers must be 15 years or over on the 1st of January 2025. Horses do not need to be shod to compete in the RoR Open In-Hand class. Horses can be shown in a bitless/In-Hand Bridle. Blemishes caused by racing will be ignored.

This Show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No. Q26-075
Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need NOT be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and have a valid qualifier card. Members to apply in to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 20th – 22nd August 2026. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 & 40. Only Skewbalds/Piebalds may compete these classes. All stallions, 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). The British Spotted Pony Society (BSpPS) will provide a rosette to the top placed spotted pony in classes 36 and 40. These classes are qualifiers for the BSpPS Breed Show to be held at Malvern Three Counties Showground on Sunday 19th July 2026. The top placed spotted pony registered with the BSpPS will qualify, (and be presented with a rosette and qualification card). The handler/owner must be a member of the BSpPS by the time of the July breed show to compete.

Those wishing to join or renew the Society will need to apply for this before 1st May each year or a late penalty fee of £15 will be charged.

VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each Area Qualifier class will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their card in the ring at all times and have their showing card signed by the judge as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership, this MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge.

Regional Finals are open to members only.
All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships,
4th – 6th September 2026.
