Foxhunter:

(a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 700 points. Four double clears will qualify – in accordance with rule 310.6

(b) For all registered horses born on or after 1 January 2018, irrespective of points. Horses will be eligible for double clear qualification to attend second rounds providing they reach the age of seven years or under in the same calendar year as the Foxhunter Final - in accordance with rule 310.6 Four double clears will qualify. Four double clears will qualify for the Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds.

Qualifying period: The Senior Foxhunter Second Round qualifying period 1st May – 30th April (subject to revision). Those horses that have qualified for the Senior Foxhunter Championship in 2024 are not eligible for qualification to the 2025 Championship.

If combined with an open: In the event of 30 or more starters the class will be split with two sets of prize money.

Rule 274. Table A - speed 375mpm - Start Height 1.25m - 1.40m Joker Fence - 1.50m
Limited to 30 Entries - Drawn Order
Six, eight or ten obstacles, which are progressively more difficult. No combination obstacles are allowed. The progressive difficulty is not solely due to the height and spread of the obstacles but also to the difficulty of the track. Points are awarded as follows:
One point for obstacle No 1 cleared, two points for No 2, three points for No 3 etc, with a total of 21,36 or 55 points. No point is awarded for an obstacle knocked down. Faults other than knock-downs are penalized as for Table A and any of these faults, including time faults are converted into points and deducted from any jumping points scored.
In the event of equality of points for first place, there will be a jump-off against the clock over a shortened course, over obstacles that may be increased in height and/or spread. The obstacles in the jump-off must be jumped in the same order as in the first round and retain their respective points allotted in the first round.
This competition may also take place directly against the clock.
For the last obstacle of the course, an alternative obstacle may be provided, of which one part may be designated the Joker. The Joker must be more difficult than the alternative obstacle and carry double points. If the Joker is knocked down, the points must be deducted from the total.

BSPS Performance Pony Qualifiers

Performance Classes – London International Horse Show Qualifiers
You do not need to be a member of BSPS to enter these classes but owners and riders must be or become members within 7 days of the BSPS to take the qualification forward.
Method of Judging:
• Exhibitors enter the ring as a whole class on the right rein. Classes may be split on the go round dependent on numbers at the judge’s discretion. Exhibitors will walk, trot and canter including change of rein and canter on the left rein before coming back to walk. No galloping on the go round. In the 128cm Performance Pony Class No Cantering on the go round. No pull in.
• Exhibitors will perform an individual display, this must include a walk, trot and canter on both reins, a free walk on a long rein, canter circle, extension at canter (not a gallop) on one rein and a halt. Canter transitions must be executed on the straight (not at a corner). No stripping, exhibitors will be asked to walk away and trot back to the judge before commencing their display.
• Any suitable bridle including a Micklem bridle, flash or grackle, nose bands etc and a correctly fitted running martingale can be used. Coloured or plain browbands can be used. Bitless bridles and running gags are not permitted.
• Riders in BSPS classes must comply with rule 43 in the 2024 BSPS rulebook with regard to hat specification.
Ring B

Class: 13 BSPS Heritage Lead Rein Working Sports Pony (Direct Qualifier for London International Horse Show)

Description:

Body protectors are compulsory in this class. Mare or Gelding, 4yrs old and over, Mountain and Moorland registered ponies and non-registered Mountain and Moorland type ponies not exceeding 128cms. Ridden by a child to have attained their 5th birthday on the 1st January in the current year and not to attain their 10th birthday by 1st January in the current year. Any suitable snaffle bridle.
In Lead Rein WSP classes the Judges will be looking for a pony suitable for a child to begin their future in Working Sports Pony classes.

Marks:
Manners & Style whilst performing the test
(including go round and jumping) 60 Marks
Type, Movement and Freedom of Action 20 Marks
Presentation, condition and suitability of pony for the rider 20 Marks

Criteria
The Leader must be 16 years old or over and may only lead one pony in a class.
The rein MUST go directly from the bit to the rider’s hand, with no extra aids or attachments to or on the saddle.
Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the handle or to the saddle. The Lead Rein must be affixed to the noseband on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring.
Whilst in the ring ponies must always be led by the leader.
The Leader must lead on the near side with the lead rein in the left hand.
RIDERS - Hats in accordance with BSPS Rules, Tweed Jackets, Beige or cream jodhpurs, Shirt, tie, boots and gloves.
No Buttonholes
LEADERS Country attire, Gentlemen Trilby Hats or Caps, Ladies modest hats.

Method of Judging
Ponies will enter the ring at the walk, they may be trotted altogether at the Judges’ discretion. They will be pulled into line and asked to perform an individual test around obstacles including jumping a maximum of three small upright fences not exceeding 30cms. No spread fences. Water will not be included. Ponies will not be asked to walk on artificial material e.g. plastic sheeting during the test. Riders will not be asked to dismount.
Judges will penalise refusals, knockdowns or taking the wrong course at their discretion.
A stride or two of canter over the fences will not be penalised.
There will be NO conformation marks. Ponies must be shown unplaited and in accordance with their breed standards.

Open ONLY to Hunters, mare or gelding 4 years old and over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx.)
Any horse which is registered / previously registered as a Grade A Showjumper, Advanced Eventer, or above as at 1st January of the current year, is not eligible. Rider to be 15years or over. Height of fences: minimum 3’0”, maximum 3’3”, maximum spread 3’3”. Please note the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Course Builder/ BSHA Representative. A rider may ride up to two Horses in the jumping phase only and then must select one Horse to take through to the Individual Show & Conformation stage. No change of rider is allowed.
The highest placed unqualified horse in the top 5 will qualify for the LIHS BSHA Rising Star Working Hunter Type Supreme Final at the LIHS in December.
QUALIFICATION WILL BE CONFIRMED BY EMAIL ONCE BSHA MEMBERSHIP IS COMPLETED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF QUALIFICATION.

injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series.
The first three go forward to the final at The Jockey Club RoR National Championships,
Aintree, August 23rd 2025.
Highest placed Veteran (15+) £10.
The Highest Placed Veteran also qualifies for the Tattersalls RoR Ridden Veteran Show final at
the Jockey Club RoR National Championships on August 23rd 2025.
The Judge will NOT ride. Horses may be stripped for conformation at the discretion of the
judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering
and/or participating in RoR classes agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and
Regulations from time to time in force. The class to be judged 50% jumping, 20% Style while
jumping and performance and 30% awarded for show, manners and suitability to be retrained.
PHASE 1
Jumping to be judged:
8 rustic jumps 70cm to 80cm with a maximum spread of 75cm.
The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round:
10 points to be deducted for a knock down, 15 points to be deducted for a refusal, 20 points for
second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall or Error of Course.
PHASE 2
Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes,
at the judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without
leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class)
Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the
following movements: walk, trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt
and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be
retrained. Fences for the final at Aintree can be up to a maximum of 85cm with a spread of 80cm

Description:

Open ONLY to Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, mare or gelding 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms. Any horse which is a Grade B showjumper, Intermediate Eventer, or above as at 1st January of the current year, is not eligible Rider to be 15 years or over.
Height of fences: minimum 2’6”, maximum 2’9”, maximum spread 2’9”, Please note the height of the fences may be raised at the final at the discretion of the Course Builder / BSHA Representative.

Description:

Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings,
owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st
January 2025. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a
plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE
IGNORED in this series.
The Series is open to AMATEUR riders only – those employed in racing will be allowed to
compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into
consideration. The Judge will not ride in the qualifiers but will ride in the Final.
Competitors/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.
The first three go forward to the final at the Hickstead Derby Meeting, June 22nd 2025.

Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need NOT be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and have a valid qualifier card. Members to apply in to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 14th - 16th August 2025. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers 42, 43, 44, 46, 47, 48. The British Spotted Pony Society (BSpPS) will provide a rosette to the top placed spotted pony in classes 45 and 49. These classes are qualifiers for the BSpPS Breed Show to be held at Malvern Three Counties Showground on Sunday 21st July 2024. The top placed spotted pony registered with the BSpPS will qualify, (and be presented with a rosette and qualification card). The handler/owner must be a member of the BSpPS by the time of the July breed show to compete.

These classes are affiliated to the APHS Foreign Breed Society and open to any horse that is non-indigenous to the British Isles (also excludes Irish horses/ponies). Part-Breds are allowed, if sufficient entries the class can be split, at the Judge's discretion.

Classes will be judged under the APHS (English) Show rules.

The top three from each affiliated class qualifies for the APHS Foreign Breed Festival Shows National Championships finals and are judged under APHS Show Rules (English) which can be viewed at www.aphs.org.uk. Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification. Those wishing to join or renew the Society will need to apply for this before 1st May each year or a late penalty fee of £15 will be charged.

VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each Area Qualifier class will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their card in the ring at all times and have their showing card signed by the judge as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership, this MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge.
Regional Finals are open to members only.
All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships,
29th - 31st August 2025. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule which is available mid-season in 2025.
