Please note the Border Union Show Dairy Goat section will run on Saturday 27th July – schedule of classes below. The Scottish Goatkeepers Federation Border Show will be held on Friday 26th July at the Border Union Showground, using the same schedule of classes below. Entries need only be made for the Border Union Show as it will be all entries will automatically be entered into the SGF Border Show to be held on Friday 26th.
The Goat Classes / Milking Competitions only / are held under the Rules, Regulations and Recognition of the British Goat Society. All exhibits must be registered with the BGS as in the ownership and in the name of the exhibitor, the registered name and number and identification mark being quoted on the entry form. (Also the kidding date for goats in milk). All goats in milk must be kidded or aborted a minimum of 30 days previous to the date of the Show.
Classes for Pygmy and Boer goats will be held if more than one herd is entered.
All entries (incl Pygmy and Boer) must be accompanied by a whole-herd CAE negative certificate issued within the last 12 months of the show date. These negative results must be on the BGS submission form (for Dairy Goats only). This show cannot accommodate separate penning and ring facilities for CAE accredited herds.

The Border Union Show awards the following trophies:
The Jedburgh Goat Group Cup for the Champion Goat, donated by Riverside Caravan Park, Hawick.
The A. Carr Trophy, presented by the Dumfries and Galloway Goat Club, will be awarded to the Reserve Champion.
The Fionn Mist Perpetual Challenge Rose Bowl presented by A.J. Lowrie, Esq., Kelso, will be awarded for the Best Toggenburg or British Toggenburg.
The Wessex Cup presented by the Dumfries and Galloway Goat Club, will be awarded to the Best British Alpine
The Tweedside Sissy Memorial Rose Bowl presented by Jane Martin, for the best British Saanen
The Whitehouse Silver Salver presented by the Scottish Goatkeepers’ Ferderation, will be awarded to the Best Goatling, any variety
The Rose Bowl presented by Jedburgh Goat Group, will be awarded to the Reserve Best Goatling, any variety
The Highland Confectionery Cup donated by Highland Confectionery, for the Best Kid
The Galloway Cup presented by the Dumfries and Galloway Goat Club, will be awarded for the Reserve Best Kid
The St Michael Trophy presented by the Dumfries and Galloway Goat Club, will be awarded to the Best AOV Milker
Shield presented by Southern Scotland Goat Society, will be awarded to the highest yielding goat in the Milking Competition, regardless of butterfat
Border Union Rosettes for Champion and Reserve Champion
The British Goat Society offers for each show:
• A Rosette for the Best Goat in Show
• A Challenge Certificate for the Best Goat that has borne a kid
• A Challenge Certificate for the Best Inspection / Production Goat
• A Breed Challenge Certificate for the Best Goat that has borne a kid in each of the following breeds: Anglo Nubian, Saanen, Toggenburg, British-Alpine, British-Guernsey, British-Saanen, British-Toggenburg and Golden Guernsey
• A Certificate of Merit for the Best British Milker that has borne a kid
• Special Awards – The "Lynch" Challenge Cup
MILKING COMPETITION
All goats must be in the Showground by 6.00 p.m. on Friday 28th July to be stripped dry in the presence and to the satisfaction of the Chief Steward. Goats entered in inspection classes to be shown with full udders at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday 27th July. Straw supplied. This milking competition is held under the rules of the British Goat Society.
Exhibitors who only entered youngstock and/or Boers/Pygmy goats to ensure that their stock is on the showground and accommodated in their pens by 9am on either Friday and /or Saturday.
Entry free (FOC) for MILKING COMPETITION CLASSES are for goats already entered in Classes in MILKER classes.
