For the Best Ewe, any breed, any age, having reared a Lamb in 2022


All exhibitors wishing to qualify for the Danske Bank / Northern Ireland Shows Association Sheep Championship Final must enter the name / breed of their animal(s) with the Qualifying Show. The Qualifiers for the final will be the first and second prize winners in the Danske Bank / Nisa class.

This qualifying class is open to all Ewe’s, any breed, any age, having reared a lamb in 2022, which has not already qualified for the Final. Stewards will enquire from the qualifying exhibitors if it is their intention to be present at Castlewellan Show on Saturday, 16th July 2022 for the final.

In the event of the Qualifiers not wishing to attend the Final, then the judge will be asked to identify further qualifying animals.

Qualifying Exhibitors who do not appear at the Final may be disqualified from competing in Championships organised by NiSA in 2023, unless good reason is given for non attendance.

No exhibitor may qualify more than two exhibits for the Championship Final. Animals cannot qualify for the Championship in sheep classes at Castlewellan Show.

NISA will present special rosettes to the Exhibitors of both qualifying animals at each Qualifying show. Each animal forward at the final will be paid attendance money of £20.00

Prizes at the final
1st prize - £300 plus crystal trophy and sash
2nd prize - £200
3rd prize - £100
4th prize - £50
( the above prize monies include the £20 attendance monies ).

Prize money will be forwarded, by cheque, to the named exhibitor at the address notified to the qualifying show. It is important that details of the exhibitor, animal, address, contact details are correct.

The qualifying shows are: Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Saintfield, Ballymena and Omagh Shows.

The capabilities of the handler will be assessed, not the animal being show. Only animals that have already competed in the normal show classes may be used. All exhibitors must be deemed capable of handling the animal being shown and the owner
of the animal being shown must be at a safe distance.

Points may be gained in all the above classes which will count towards the "Volac" Ni Texel Show Flock competition

The "Volac" Shearling Ewe Show Champion and Reserve Award will be presented to the first and second placed shearling ewe at this show
